After Thanksgiving we found out about a new variant. It was named Omicron. It was more contagious and it had already been found in the US. But most people were still relaxed knowing the Delta wave was passed. The week before Christmas cases started rising. Really fast. It happened so fast that a lot of people had no idea if they weren't watching the news. The week before Christmas no one could find rapid tests and any testing sites were full as soon as appointments opened or hours long lines would form. Luckily I had rapid tests that I was able to get from work. Matthew tested positive on Christmas Day. He had been sick all week with a mild cough, but had tested negative two days before.
