COVID19 Journal

Wow... I can't believe it's almost been a year since my last post, and well we are still dealing with Covid. Jan 6th was a riot on the Captial building in Washington DC - CRAZY! Biden is president. After a very divisive election, and a runoff for senate in GA. Masks and vaccines still feel political even though they shouldn't be. I do want to continue this blog because I know I will forget these details, and I also think my kids one day might find it interesting. So where were we... There was a big spike after Christmas, but so far the cases at our schools were low, and I was still working from home. A large portion of the schools were virtual (by choice) and even the high school was doing alternating weeks. I hardly knew anyone who contracted Covid, until my sister in law got it in March. Matthew and William each had a quarantine period from School in February (Matthew) and May (William). Both had their first covid test (in the nose) at a drive thru site, and it was...

I can't believe we are still in the thick of this. It's been 5 months since my last post! We are officially in the 3rd surge... the cases in GA are spiking fast. But we're not a bad as some places in the mid-west. I thought we might have turned a corner, but clearly that is not the case. School started, and Matthew went back to face to face in early September. We felt good about the numbers being low, and hadn't heard of any cases at the school. William started pre-k face to face full time in August. Both boys played baseball this fall without incident. We were able to stay distanced at the games and they were outside. Chris was teaching high school with 1/2 the kids online and half the kids in person (switching weeks), then they went to everyone back to in person, unless you elected to stay virtual. I am still working from home.  Halloween went great, again outside, some people had fancy shoots for candy, some laid it out on a table, some left the bowl out, some handed...

6/25/20 We are at least 100 days into this... So work got CRAZY and the journal just did not happen. I am writing this to try to memorialize ALL that's been going on. For the second half of April I was working 60+ hours a week (from home.)  Meanwhile everything was shut down and I am not sure if I even went out in public. The most our family ventured out was to the grocery store. I also wasn't as connected with the news, and the daily briefings slowed down. The overall numbers in GA stayed pretty low, especially in Coweta county. More people are wearing masks, and some stores, like Costco, require it, but there's a lot of people who don't wear masks. As the numbers slowed down, I think a lot of people began feeling comfortable that this really wouldn't be bad. This week, the numbers across a lot of states have gone up. GA has had 3 of our highest new case days this week. I think the rates of infection is scarier than in the first wave. I hope now that we...

4/8/2020 COVID 19 Day 25 OOOOPS... I have been so crazy busy with work, updating this blog fell off the radar. Ok, what's been happening... besides work Seriously I worked all weekend, so much for a reduced schedule... We had not been able to find toilet paper anywhere, so we joined Costco just to get TP. Now we will find out what the buzz is all about. We got a bucket of delicious strawberries from the strawberry farm. We love picking strawberries there, but that's a no-go in the current situation. I haven't left the house in over a week outside of walks. It rained yesterday so more inside time. I found some yeast in the cabinet so I tried out cinnamon swirl break in the bread machine. I'll call it a win, but I didn't know when to take it out, roll it out, and put the cinnamon in so I think I did it too late. It still tastes good, just not as fluffy. 4/3/20 Friday COVID 19 Day 20 How is it Friday again? This week went fast. But everyday seems the same. I stayed up wait too late last night trying to pick out lego sets to order from Target (on sale) for the boys' Easter baskets. Today my stomach is hurting. My egg and cheese breakfast burrito tasted a little off this morning (wondering if it was the cheese?). Or maybe I need to stop drinking coffee... but I am tired!

4/2/20 Wednesday COVID 19 Day 20 I woke up feeling much better today. I think going to be early helped. I was honestly worried I might be getting sick last night. Not much to update today. It sounds like people went out an panic bought at the grocery stores after the governor's announcement yesterday. I don't know if we'll be able to find more toilet paper. It is so insane. The pollen is still considered "extremely high" but only at 1,000 today - so nowhere near the levels it was before. I spent most of the work day building charts and dashboards so that was enjoyable. Unfortunately when it came time to make them pretty colors I didn't seem to have the access, so I probably won't be sharing my work. :( Our family has settled into a new normal, but I know Chris is having the hardest time adapting. 4/1/20 Wednesday COVID 19 Day 18 I wish this was an April Fools Joke. It seems like we will be in lock-down / social distancing for the whole month of April. I have been super tired today. Not sure if it's just all the sitting around, or allergies, or something else (COVID).  I didn't work out today, I just didn't have the energy this morning. I was extra hungry all day (maybe from working out last night) and then after dinner my stomach hurt. I was also cold all day... hmmm...? The governor of GA announced today that schools would be closed through the end of the year. We're also starting a state wide shelter in place order on Friday through the 13th. Honestly that won't change much for me, but I hope it makes people stay the f home. They haven't put out any details, but I think you will still be able to go out for the necessities.
