Covid - Nov 23
I can't believe we are still in the thick of this. It's been 5 months since my last post!
We are officially in the 3rd surge... the cases in GA are spiking fast. But we're not a bad as some places in the mid-west.
I thought we might have turned a corner, but clearly that is not the case.
School started, and Matthew went back to face to face in early September. We felt good about the numbers being low, and hadn't heard of any cases at the school.
William started pre-k face to face full time in August.
Both boys played baseball this fall without incident. We were able to stay distanced at the games and they were outside.
Chris was teaching high school with 1/2 the kids online and half the kids in person (switching weeks), then they went to everyone back to in person, unless you elected to stay virtual.
I am still working from home.
Halloween went great, again outside, some people had fancy shoots for candy, some laid it out on a table, some left the bowl out, some handed it directly you you, but I didn't hear of any outbreaks tied to trick or treating.
The statistic we are tracking is the 2 week cases out of 100k population. At the beginning of September we dipped below 100 and stayed there for a while.
Just within the past week, it has spiked to over 200.
I have a close friend who's whole family got Covid and they don't know where, they've been super careful. My Uncle and Cousin in Mississippi have it.
Chris and I agreed, that it feels like it is closing in around us.
My brother in law got married on Saturday. We were careful, but to be honest, we could have been more diligent about masks. It's so easy to be lulled into a sense of security when no one is physically sick around you.
When you go out, still not everyone wears a masks, and not everyone wears it correctly. There are people who truly believe they have their rights taken away when they are required to wear a mask! I know it's hard to believe.
The political climate doesn't help, and it's become a left/right thing whether or not we wear masks or believe scientists.
The CDC came out and recommended against visiting family and traveling for Thanksgiving. Not a good sign for the airline industry.
Some school systems are going back to virtual only.
I can only imagine how the next month is going to go.
